Licensed Marriage & Clinical Therapist
Compassionate, trauma-informed therapy in Clovis, California — for individuals, couples, and families ready to move forward.
About
I'm David Miller, a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) and clinical professional clinical counselor (LPCC) based in Clovis, California. I've spent over a decade helping people navigate grief, anxiety, relationship challenges, and the weight of unresolved trauma.
My practice is built on a simple belief: that every person carries the capacity for growth, even when it doesn't feel like it. Therapy with me is collaborative, direct, and free from judgment. We'll move at your pace — some sessions are quiet, others are hard work, but all of it is purposeful.
I hold active licenses in both marriage and family therapy and clinical mental health counseling, which means I bring a dual lens to my work — attending to the individual as well as the relational dynamics that shape our lives.
Services
Therapy isn't one-size-fits-all. I offer several modalities tailored to where you are and what you need.
One-on-one sessions for adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, and the persistent sense that something needs to change.
For partners who want to break recurring patterns, rebuild trust, and communicate with clarity — whether you're on the edge of crisis or simply feeling stuck.
Family dynamics shape us in ways we rarely notice. I help families understand those patterns and create space for healthier relationships across generations.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is an evidence-based approach for processing traumatic memories and reducing their emotional charge.
Therapy from anywhere with secure, HIPAA-compliant video sessions — ideal for those with scheduling constraints, transportation barriers, or a preference for home.
Not sure where to start? I offer a brief initial consultation to assess your needs and, when appropriate, connect you with trusted resources in the Clovis community.
Approach
I draw from several evidence-based frameworks — including EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and parts work (IFS-informed) — but I never let the theory overshadow the person in front of me.
Before any treatment plan, I take time to understand your story — your history, your patterns, and what's bringing you in now.
We define what healing looks like for you, not what a textbook says it should look like. Your goals drive the work.
I don't shy away from hard truths, but I deliver them with care. You'll always know where we stand and why.
Therapy should feel like it's going somewhere. We check in regularly on how you're doing and adjust as needed.
FAQ
Your first session is primarily an assessment. We'll discuss what brought you to therapy, your history, and what you're hoping to get out of the process. I'll also explain how I work and answer any questions you have. There's no pressure to have it all figured out — showing up is the hardest part.
I accept several major PPO insurance plans and can provide super bills for out-of-network reimbursement. I'll verify your benefits before your first session so there are no surprises. Please call to confirm your specific plan.
It depends on your goals and the nature of the work. Some people find relief in 8–12 sessions; others benefit from longer-term therapy. We'll discuss a tentative timeline early on and adjust as we go. You're always in control of when to pause or conclude.
Absolutely. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. What you share stays between us, with standard legal exceptions (imminent danger to self or others, abuse of minors or vulnerable adults). I'll review these details in our first session so you know exactly what to expect.
Both are licensed mental health professionals in California. An LMFT specializes in relationship and family dynamics, while an LPCC focuses on clinical mental health conditions. Having both licenses means I can address both the individual and relational aspects of your concerns in an integrated way.
You can call or text me directly at (559) 412-7007, or use the contact form below. I typically respond within one business day. Initial consultations are 15–20 minutes and help us determine if we're a good fit.
